Chili Drying Line – South Africa
The partnership with this South African agricultural enterprise began in December 2016. Following the successful operation of their initial drying unit, the client experienced a significant increase in plantation yield. In 2019, to accommodate this expansion, the client required a high-capacity, continuous solution specifically for “Round Chili” varieties.
Client Requirements:
Sustainability: A transition to cleaner energy to meet regional environmental standards.
Material Integrity: Prevention of skin fracturing and color loss in Round Chilis, which have high initial moisture levels.
Capacity Scalability: A jump to an $8,000\text{kg}$ daily processing target.

Guoxin Group deployed the GX2-12-4L Continuous Mesh Belt Dryer, customized for the high-sugar and high-moisture profile of the Round Chili variety.
Core Equipment: Guoxin 4-Layer Mesh Belt Dryer (Model: GX2-12-4L).
Material Contact: Full SUS304 Stainless Steel mesh belts to ensure food safety compliance.
Heat Source: Propane (LPG) via a Guoxin Patented Propane Heat Exchange Furnace. This system ensures that combustion by-products never contact the material, maintaining a “Clean-Dry” environment.
Operational Parameters: Constant $75\text{°C}$ drying temperature with frequency-controlled belt speeds.

Process: Raw Round Chili Intake → Automated Feeding → 4-Layer Progressive Dehydration ($85\%$ to $10\%$ moisture) → Controlled Cooling → Bulk Discharge/Packaging.
| Parameter | Technical Detail |
|---|---|
| Processing Capacity | 8,000kg (8 Tons) per 24-hour cycle |
| Initial Moisture | 85% (Fresh Round Chili) |
| Final Moisture | 10% (Export Quality) |
| Drying Temperature | 75°C (Optimized for color retention) |
| Energy Source | Propane (LPG) - High thermal efficiency |
| Efficiency Gains | 20% reduction in fuel consumption vs. Phase I |
Operational Efficiency:
The use of the patented propane heat exchange system allows for precise thermal modulation. Compared to traditional diesel or coal systems common in the region, the propane setup reduces maintenance downtime by $15\%$ and eliminates the risk of “smoky” off-flavors in the final product.
Investment Return:
Given the premium market price for export-grade dried Round Chilis in South Africa, the Return on Investment (ROI) for this expansion phase was achieved within 11 months. The automation of the GX2-12-4L reduced onsite labor requirements from 6 workers down to 2 operators.
Regional Policy Adaptability:
The project aligns with South Africa’s Carbon Tax Act and green energy initiatives by utilizing LPG (Propane), which has a lower carbon footprint than traditional solid fuels, making the facility eligible for future green-tier industrial certifications.
“After three years of reliable performance from our first Guoxin machine, the decision to return for a larger propane-fired unit was simple. The patented furnace design provides a very clean heat, which is essential for our high-end pepper exports. The 304 stainless steel belts have proven exceptionally durable in our environment.” — Operations Manager, South Africa.
Phase I (2016): Initial equipment delivery and commissioning.
Phase II Consultation (2019): Capacity analysis based on new plantation data.
Customization: Engineering of the patented propane heat exchange system.
Installation: On-site assembly and calibration for Round Chili specifics.
Technical Support: Ongoing remote monitoring and spare parts supply.
