Release time:2026-03-17

Introduction

Turmeric is widely used in spice production, food processing, and the herbal medicine industry. Commercial turmeric drying ensures that turmeric rhizomes can be processed into turmeric slices and turmeric powder with long shelf life and stable color.

Industrial drying systems allow spice manufacturers to improve production efficiency and product quality.

Turmeric Drying Process

1 Raw Turmeric Cleaning

Fresh turmeric rhizomes are washed thoroughly to remove soil and impurities.

2 Boiling or Blanching

Turmeric is often boiled before drying.

Purpose:

• improve color
• soften the rhizomes
• reduce drying time

3 Slicing

The turmeric rhizomes are sliced into thin pieces to improve drying efficiency.

Typical thickness:

4–6 mm.

4 Drying Stage

The sliced turmeric is dried using controlled temperature and airflow.

Typical drying conditions:

Temperature
55–65°C

Drying time
6–10 hours.
