Date: April 2, 2026
Materials: Curry leaves, Spinach, Mint, and Coriander.
Equipment: Guoxin Industrial Heat Pump Drying Chamber (Cabinet Type).
In early April 2026, Guoxin Group successfully commissioned a specialized herb drying unit in India. The facility processes a variety of high-demand local herbs, including curry leaves and mint, which are essential for both domestic spice markets and international exports.
Leafy herbs are among the most difficult materials to dry commercially due to their physical and chemical fragility:
Color Degradation: High temperatures in traditional ovens cause leaves to turn brown or yellow, significantly reducing their market grade.
Aroma Loss: Volatile oils in mint and coriander evaporate quickly if the drying air is not precisely managed.
High Microbial Risk: Fresh leaves carry high moisture and organic matter; slow drying can lead to fermentation or mold growth.
The client required a solution that could guarantee vibrant green color retention while keeping operational costs low in the competitive Indian market.
The project utilizes our cabinet-style heat pump dryer, designed for precision batch processing.
Traditional electric dryers in India face high utility costs. Our system uses the 3/4 free-energy principle. By absorbing heat from the ambient Indian air, the machine provides $4\text{ kW}$ of thermal energy for every $1\text{ kW}$ of electricity consumed, reducing monthly power bills by over 65%.
Unlike traditional hot-air systems, the heat pump dryer operates as a closed-loop dehumidifier. This mimics natural air-drying but at a much faster rate, locking in the chlorophyll and essential oils.
As seen in the site photos, the herbs are spread on high-density trays. The internal fan system ensures a horizontal airflow that penetrates every layer, eliminating “wet pockets” even in the center of the stack.
| Material | Input State | Drying Temp | Time | Output Quality |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Curry Leaves | Freshly Picked | 45°C−50°C | 4−6h | Perfect Green, Brittle Texture |
| Mint | Whole Sprigs | 40°C−45°C | 5−7h | High Menthol Retention |
| Spinach | Sliced/Whole | 50°C−55°C | 6−8h | Nutrient-Dense Flakes |
Upon inspection of the first dried batch, the results were clear:
Visual Quality: The curry leaves retained their “fresh-picked” green appearance, a critical requirement for premium spice blends.
Ease of Operation: The local team successfully managed the PLC touch-screen interface with minimal training, setting custom drying curves for each herb.
Hygiene: The SUS304 stainless steel interior and food-grade trays ensure compliance with international food safety standards.
Guoxin Group provides tailored thermal engineering for spice and herb processors worldwide.
